Millstone's New Master Plan

After holding three successive legally noticed public hearings on December 12th, 13th, and 15th, 2005, the Millstone Planning Board adopted a new Master Plan on December 15th, 2005.

A Master Plan is a dynamic document that reflects the current state of a community's environment, roadways, housing, public facilities, and other land uses, and otherwise describes the community's history and vision of itself. The Master Plan outlines community goals and objectives, and guides planning for the future within the municipality. Once completed, the Master Plan is presented at a public hearing and officially adopted by the Planning Board.

Once in effect, the Master Plan guides the use of lands within the municipality. The Planning Board reviews the land use zoning ordinances adopted by the Borough Council to assure consistency with the Master Plan. The New Jersey Municipal Land Use Law requires municipalities to re-examine their Master Plan every six years in order to identify recent problems and changes of land development in the municipality.

Millstone's Master Plan was prepared by Carter van Dyke, PP of Carter van Dyke Associates, Doylestown, PA.
