The Mayor's Post

March 2009 Mayors Report

Target Traffic Enforcement

The Franklin Township Police have done a great job curtailing traffic offenses. I believe that with over 100 tickets issued last month we are sending a clear message to people commuting through our town. Motorists will either respect our community by obeying the traffic laws or face sanctions.

4 Major Traffic Accidents in the Past 2 Months

The intersection of 533 and 514 is getting more dangerous during rush hour. 2 Police cars were damaged in unrelated events near this area. I have requested that our patrol division concentrate on this location.

Launch of the New and Improved Millstone Web Site

Our web site now provides a greater amount of information for the residents. Contact information is available for all staff members enabling residents with quick and easy access.

Waterline Installation at Borough Hall

The water line should be installed within a month. As previously stated, an earlier test found that the well lines had traces of contaminates in it. We will be switching over to ensure safe drinking water in Borough Hall.

Meeting for Flood Mitigation in Trenton

The meeting with the state went well. Our team of professional staff and community leaders attended. The process is somewhat comprehensive but we are dedicated and committed to public safety and property conservation. We have a lot of homework to do.

Local Access T.V. Station Update

Comcast was here late last month to measure for the fiber optic cable. Soon we well have our own local access station for the residents. It will provide relative information about our town and upcoming events. This will also keep the residents with limited to no computer access better informed.

Community Safety

With this recession we must all be reminded of safety in our town. Surrounding communities are experiencing crimes such as bank robberies, home invasions, burglaries, etc. Millstone is not immune to this type of activity. I have spoken to the State Police Barrack Commander in Somerville about this topic. He agreed, and will provide a greater presence in the Borough.

February 2009 Mayors Report

Target Traffic Enforcement

The Franklin Township Police have begun the traffic enforcement campaign. It appears that it’s going well and I’m receiving many complements on this new service.

Trees

We have been experiencing an increase of complaints on trees in town. I will be creating a tree ad-hoc committee to inspect the trees and report to us any dead or injured trees. I will stress that any trees that are removed must be replaced.

Budget Workshop

We will be holding our budget workshop session later this month. I have requested to the department and committee heads to submit any information regarding their budgets by next week.
